The 1000th Wedding!

In July 2024, we celebrated our 1000th Wedding here at Wellington Barn. This milestone landed on the wonderful Mr & Mrs Fowler's big day! We conducted an interview with Lisa and Ian about the lead up and their Wedding day.

Why Did You Book Wellington Barn?

The Short answer – The View

The Long Answer - We went to 2 different venues, where they offered us various things.

Wellington barn was the third, and even amongst the craziness of the Wedding Fayre, we looked and said this is it.

When we spoke to Lauren and the caterers, they understood what we wanted. We didn’t want a sit down meal, we wanted something different and there was never a chance this wouldn’t be on the cards. It was always yes, yes, yes!

We were made to feel very comfortable with where we were going with the plan for the day.

What Was Your Favourite Part about Planning Your Wedding?

When we had our last meeting with Lauren, we sat down. Being planners and doing this for a living, we’d say we’re both relatively difficult. We have high expectations and want everything to go100% according to plan. We had parts of the day where we didn’t know who was going to do what, and Lauren and The Wellie Barn Team took responsibility for most of it. It took away all our final worries.

We were given alternative options as to where we could hold our outdoor ceremony and we had the backdrop behind us. It was just another can-do from Wellington Barn.

What was your favourite part of your Wedding Day?

The fireworks!

The fireworks just finished if off. The ability to have those at the end of the night was brilliant. There were a couple of venues we asked about fireworks and they said no. Whereas when we came to Wellie Barn, it was another yes yes yes. Wellington Barn had a supplier who could do this.

With the relaxed atmosphere, we were able to create an informal but completely social environment which was exactly what we wanted. There were no seating plans, we didn’t want regimented speeches.

We had a couple of drop outs so we were able to invite extra people without having to worry about any named places.

How Did It Feel Being Our 1000^th Wedding?

I won’t lie, I was watching the socials carefully trying to see if I could work out when it was going to be announced.

When we came out and everyone appeared from everywhere, it was just, I know it sounds strange because it wasn’t like winning the lottery as I won when I married Lisa, but it felt a little bit like that. It was the literal icing on our wedding cake.

When we dropped off items, we noticed a massive board about our wedding day and we thought maybe it was because we’re so difficult and we laughed about it. When I spoke to Liv and asked if this was why, we were told it was because we were so special. Ian did say, I do wonder but we didn’t really think about it again.

In the morning, I asked Lauren if it was us and she said she didn’t know but we knew she knew but thought she wasn’t saying because it wasn’t us.

We were asked by guests if we knew it was going to be us, but we really didn’t.

We really had no idea, it was genuinely a surprise.

What Advice Would You Give to Future Wellington Barn Couples?

Do what you want! The venue supported us with every single thing we wanted. To the extent that, some things didn’t go right on our wedding day and Lauren looked at me and said is this how you visualised this and I said no but she just took care of it.

When we were telling the team what we wanted, there was never a time when anybody said no. Right up until the day it was still Wellie Barn could sort this.
